Meet John and the family behind Moody’s Upholstery, helping customers across Teesside give familiar furniture a fresh start.
Upholstering since the mid-1980s
John began upholstering furniture alongside his work in the fire brigade. After retiring from the brigade in 2004, he made upholstery his main occupation.
That experience helps him look beyond the covering: at the comfort, construction and details that make each piece different.
Many customers come back with another project, or with furniture ready for a new covering years later.
You’ll speak with our family
Upholstery is a personal service. When you get in touch, John or his wife will discuss what you need and help arrange the next step.
There is no need to have everything worked out before calling. A few photographs, an idea of what you would like to change and a conversation are often enough to get started.
You might already have fabric from a local shop, or want help choosing from our books and suppliers. Both are welcome.
A working workshop, and work that matters to you
From a familiar sofa to an individual cushion, we take time to understand what you would like the furniture to do for you.
We’ll give practical advice about recovering, comfort and repairs, and discuss the work and likely cost. If something only becomes clear after the covering is removed, we’ll explain what we have found.
